Presto Power Pop Microwave Popcorn Popper
Have personally had one of these for nearly 4 years and LOVE IT! If you love healthy popcorn, this comes with my highest recommendation!
Instead of me rambling about it, I copied a REVIEW from a consumer appliance website to describe it much the way I would.
Looking for a low-fat, easy way to enjoy salty, crunchy snacks which fit well on the Weight Watchers plan, I've been enjoying the benefits of microwave popcorn. Being cheap, and not satisfied with the quality of the "bagged" microwave popcorn, I went looking for an alternative and stumbled upon the Presto PowerPop Microwave multi-popper. I give this product highest ratings!
The PowerPop was purchased at Target or KMart for under $20. My thought process was why pay 65c a bag for microwave when I can buy the PowerPop and bulk popcorn for less than 13c a bowl. For the minimal investment, I thought I would give PowerPop a chance, plus, it is recommended by the king of Popcorn, Orville Redenbacher!
The PowerPop is easy to use. Four, count 'em, four parts make up the appliance. A 3 quart capacity popping bowl, the cover to the bowl, the special microwave magic power base, and the power cup liner, inside the bowl. The only minor negative is the power cup liner must be replaced about every 30 non-oil poppings. The cost is approximately $1.99 for 8 liners. The bowl and cover are dishwasher safe, the base and liner must be wiped clean. Still, very easy to clean. The clear bowl makes is easy to see the results.
The success rate is nearly 100% corn popped! The base and liner concentrate the microwaves so virtually every kernel will pop! I leave my kernels dry, with a little "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" sprayed on for flavor, and most kernels are popped. While I never tried it, due to calorie restraints, you can pour a little oil in the bottom of the Powercup for basic popcorn.
The size of the popper is 6 1/2 x 10 inches which will fit in most microwaves. In my microwave, 3 quarts of hot, fresh popcorn will be ready in about 4 minutes! Any longer, and a scorched effect and taste will occur. I also add salt after the popping and use the bowl as a serving vehicle, too. You can also add any seasonings, olive oil, butter, etc., etc. before or after popping.
There is also a two year limited warranty on the popper. A great appliance, easy to use!
